The people behind Anvil Coffee Co Artarmon also run a successful cafe in one of Sydney’s most beautiful waterfront locations at Kirribilli Wharf. They have taken this coffee roasting expertise to a new and exciting location in Artarmon. It is rather an unsuspecting location, nestled amongst the warehouses in the industrial area. However they have worked with this industrial vibe well to create an open and modern space that is also very family friendly.
The menu is simple and I suspect very finely tuned from their Kirribilli cafe experience. There is currently no kids menu, however the owner Paul assures me that this should be coming soon. He also has grand plans to make the outdoor courtyard great for little ones with a chalkboard and toys. He says if you visit on the weekends, the adjacent carpark is empty and perfect for scooter riding and playing! Menu items such as toast with spread, sausage rolls and banana bread are great options for little ones.
Their menu is seasonal and there are plenty of options for healthy eaters such as gluten free house granola at breakfast and caramelised cauliflower salad at lunch. The ‘Smithie Roll’ is with gypsy ham, onion jam, slaw and poached eggs is a favourite from Kirribilli and available for breakfast and lunch. Note that the kitchen closes as 2pm daily.
Anvil is a much anticipated and needed addition to the cafe scene in Artarmon. Friendly smiles along with great food and coffee will have you coming back for more.
