The site of Botanica Garden Cafe was once a nursery and they have kept with this theme in creating a cafe with outdoor seating in a relaxed garden atmosphere. It is an eclectic mix of reclaimed vintage furniture, funky wall murals, water fountains and garden animals. The vibe is certainly relaxed and the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home.
There are three seating areas – tables at the bottom (best for prams), the middle section with sofas and armchairs and a large communal table and the top terrace which has a fenced kids play area with a large communal table and stools. They even have pram parking! Choose your ideal space and then chill out listening to the sound of water and the cool tunes.
Little ones are well looked after with gorgeous babycinos (perfectly frothy and not runny!) and kids options for breakfast and lunch. The Little Soldiers are served in a delightful egg cup with buttered toast and is sure to please. For lunch, the chicken and corn strippers are full of hidden veggies and served with hand cut chips.
Botanica prides themselves on their homemade gourmet food. For breakfast, ‘The Al Mitey’ is a consistent favourite, served with a poached egg, avocado, mushrooms and roasted tomato on vegemite sourdough. The perfect combination of flavours delights the taste buds. The ‘Ape Crepe’ full of banana, Nutella and peanut butter cream will quell any sweet craving. Dads with a big appetite will love the ‘Meat Eaters Big Breakfast’, jam packed with chorizo, ham, eggs, house made baked beans and mushrooms.
Their most popular lunch dish is ‘B’s Signature Steak Sandwich’. The ‘PHOtanica Soup’ is a hearty Vietnamese soup with noodles and chicken ( Gluten Free). For Vegetarians, the ‘Quiche to my Heart’ is made onsite and served with a side salad. If you just want to grab a takeaway coffee and head to Waverton Park playground or Ball’s head they have a great selection of sandwiches, drinks and cakes at the front counter.
