Bread and Circus Wholefoods Canteen is part of a ‘foodie warehouse’ on Fountain street in Alexandria. We parked across the road in the 2 hour parking at Dan Murphys. They take up a bright corner of the warehouse which perfectly complements the pastel and wood interiors. Vegetables, plants and kitchen items adorn the tables and fresh fruit and herbs are scattered around the cafe.
There is a small courtyard outside which is perfect for active little ones and plenty of highchairs on offer inside the cafe. Note that the long tables are not ideal for multiple highchairs. The kids breakfast is $5 and usually consists of fruit juice sweetened cornflakes or toast with jam or vegemite (remember the menu changes daily and is available on their website). For lunch, there is no kids menu however we were kindly told by the waiter that its best to just order a few sides. The babycino was a huge novelty because of the little chocolate buttons she was able to sprinkle on top.
Salads and sandwich boxes are filling, healthy and delicious. The menu and ingredients are seasonal and fresh so change daily. You will leave Bread and Circus feeling satisfied, energetic and nurtured after such a great meal.
The warehouse space is great for little ones with some room to run away from the road. If you are after a healthy and delicious meal with the family, this is the place to come.
