If you live in the area or drive down Willoughby Road to the city, you may have noticed the Bridgeview Hotel and not thought much of it. However, if you venture into the dining room, you will find a fantastic gastro pub, which is the go-to early dinner option for local families.
Families tend to congregate in the seating area furthest from the bar on the stage. Staff are used to the chaos and are happy to bring entertainment for the kids such as pencils, colouring and board games. Best of all, Bridgeview is usually pretty noisy so any screaming can be easily absorbed and does not disturb others. The kid’s menu is great value at $10 and includes a drink and ice cream. All the usual kids pub favourites are available – calamari, steak, schnitzel and fish (all with chips and ketchup) or pasta.
For parents, happy hour is between 5-7pm which generally coincides with kids eating times – bonus! Every day sees a new special and we loved the $4 tacos on Thursdays. They also have a great menu with share options, salads, burgers and mains ($7 – $26). Their menu changed seasonally and everything I have tried has been delicious and fresh. Look out for their specials too.
The Bridgeview is a great option for an early midweek dinner and chances are that you will be surrounded by children between 5-7pm. The food is delicious and it’s a great place to have a relaxing drink whilst the kids are fed in fun and relaxed environment.
