Charlotte Cafe is welcoming and cosy, situated in an old terrace on a quiet street in beautiful Birchgrove. If you sit down the back, you can even grab a glimpse of the Harbour Bridge. The vibe is relaxed and friendly, with a huge open kitchen in the centre and communal tables mixed with smaller tables. The menu is shown on two huge blackboards.
Charlotte caters for families. There are two toy areas, one along the front bay window and one at the back so wherever you sit, little ones have access to some fun. You can also purchase ‘Cafe Kidz’ activity packs for older children. Unfortunately there is no children’s menu however baked goods such as croissants, muffins and toast are great options for little ones. They may also like to share your breakfast or lunch. Little ones can sit at their own special little table or there are plenty of high chairs.
The menu has a Mediterranean feel to it with options such as Morrocan Scramble (egg, spicy lamb, cumin, grilled tomato and sourdough), Falafel wrap or Morrocan Chicken Salad. For breakfast, the menu is dominated by eggs, omelettes and toast with various toppings. For lunch, choose from sandwiches, wraps, salads, pasta, burgers and grilled options. The Campos coffee is strong and robust.
