Chicken and Fishhead was opened by husband and wife team Scott and Sarah. It elegantly combines a café up front and childrenswear shop out back. Children can happily play with the activities and books set up on the kiddy-sized table whilst parents enjoy their delicious menu or browse the carefully selected childrenswear and accessories.
They serve breakfast and lunch in the most adorable space. Once you have eaten, make sure you explore their divine goods in the kidswear shop.
For the little ones we went for the ‘Kid’s Lunch Box’ – what a great idea! For $9.95 you receive a kids roll with your choice of ham/cheese/honey/jam, popcorn, apple, chocolate crackle & juice box. You can even change the crackle for one of their gorgeous cupcakes for an extra $2. The owners are very aware of children with allergies and will go out of their way to provide gluten free, nut free, dairy free alternatives. Just ask! The rest of the kids menu is just as well thought out, including fairy bread ($4), kids sandwich ($5), grilled ham and cheese ($7.95) and ice cream spider ($6). All food is served on special funky melamine unbreakable plates and drinks served with a plastic lid and straw.
The lunch menu is extensive with frittata, salads, soups, pasta and sandwiches on offer ($10-$22). Dinner is a BYO affair for parents with a $15 children’s menu. Choose from a mini wagu beef burger, chicken schnitzel and mash, penne napoletana and chipolata beef sausages with mash – all finiahed with a scoop of their dairy free gelato.
We love the attention to little details that make Chicken and Fishhead such a special experience. Its great for parents with toddlers especially but remember space is small so maybe sit outside with your pram.
