Alchemist Espresso occupies a gorgeous corner location in Cammeray, away from the main drag. Coffee is a science here and you won’t be disappointed if you are after a caffeine fix. The cafe itself is cosy however they do have highchairs and room for prams. Early morning weekends see the pavement overrun with bikes and cyclists relaxing at the outdoor tables.
The kids menu is simple and fun, starting with Fairy Bread ($5.50) with cheese toast ($6.50) and scrambled eggs on toast ($8.50). Kids milkshakes are only $3 and their babycinos are just gorgeous.
The kitchen has a focus on serving healthy yet hearty food with a difference. Alchemist source all their bread from the Bread and Butter Project where all profits are reinvested into asylum seekers and refugees to gain qualifications as artisan bakers. Note that the Huevos Rancheros are super spicy so not for the faint hearted.
