Enter Daisy’s Milkbar, off busy Stanmore road through a glossy pink door and discover a wonderful, colourful retro, rock-a-billy style world, complete with lots of gorgeous detail, from kitsch little ornaments to jars of lollies, murals and neon signs. Kids will be enthralled by all the things there are to look at; especially the lollies…oh did I mention the lollies?
If you’re the type of parent that has managed to keep your kids additive and sugar free – then this café will be your undoing. There are jars of all the old fashioned sweets from childhoods’ past– and it’s almost impossible to resist their nostalgic pull when you pay the bill up at the counter.
And the sugar rush continues with the delux shakes overloaded with flavours such as, malted mocha choc chip, Turkish delight, Milo or Nutella. The staff are constantly inventing new and crazy combos, they have even made a spicy pumpkin shake!. Don’t worry there are also the straightforward classic milk shakes for kids, vanilla, chocolate, caramel not to mention the spiders, floats, banana splits and the knickerbocker glories!
If you manage to find yourself a booth and resist Daisy’s sweet temptations, you will find some delicious savoury options, for kids there are egg and soldiers and simple jaffles. There are also lots of yummy things on the regular menu that are perfect for kids, like mac and cheese Pesto eggs with a creamy Persian feta or the Burrito breakfast wrap.
Daisy’s is not for the weak willed. If you want to be a regular you will need to learn to pace yourself or face the dietary consequences. Daisy’s feels too special to be ‘everyday’ making it the perfect spot for an afternoon tea or a special treat and the kids will soak up it’s cute as a button atmosphere.
