Devon Cafe in Surry Hills has been awarded the best cafe food in Sydney by SMH and their second offering, Devon on Danks, offers similar high quality cuisine. Whilst the fit out is trendy, its also playful and welcoming. Sit down and read the menu, its entertainment in itself!
There is no separate kids menu, however toast and a couple of sides was enough to share between the two girls. It really depends how experimental your little one’s taste buds are. A great way to try some new flavours would be to share your meal with them and get a couple of sides. They do make a gorgeous babycino, complete with 2 marshmallows and a huge chocolate smile.
The Asian inspired menu is a foodie’s heaven. Devon on Danks really does attract all the serious foodies in Sydney and you will soon understand why when you sample their menu. The breakfast menu ranges from $6.50 for sourdough toast to $27 for ‘Brunching with the Sukumas’. We ordered ‘Venus’ (cauliflower fritters, yoghurt, quinoa, pomegranate and soft eggs – $17) and ‘No Spain No Gain’ (smoked chorizo, morcillo, sofrito with fried egg and sourdough – $25). No Spain No Gain really is a meat lovers paradise. Whilst the menu is predominantly rich complex meals, the ‘Yogi Bowl’ is a healthier option with mixed quinoa, yoghurt grains and fruit ($15).
If you still have room, their world famous ‘Devon Cronnies’ are a must try. They offer 3 flavour categories: Asian, traditional and contemporary.
