The perfect pit stop for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea when in the city with little ones.The origins of the iconic Dymocks Building dates back to 1879 when young William Dymock opened a bookstore in nearby Market Street. The Dymocks Family then bought the site of the current building and created the art deco masterpiece that stands today. Dymocks Cafe is situated in the atrium with views of the ground floor. The old style booths are perfect for families and keeping little ones contained. The menu is surprisingly gourmet and the service friendly and efficient.
Breakfast is served all day with plenty of egg based options such as Eggs Benedict and a variety of omelettes. Their ricotta hotcakes ($13.90) with fresh banana and raspberry puree are renowned for being decadent and delicious. For the little ones, banana bread, scones and a variety of toasts are only $4.90.
For lunch, the sandwich bar is healthy,fresh and delicious (with gluten free bread available – $13.90 to $14.50). The poached chicken sandwich was a colourful mix of fresh salad, succulent chicken pieces and beetroot relish. More substantial lunch options include beef rissoles with mash; chicken schnitzel with mash and vegetables; and their chicken & vegetable casserole (all $18.50). Afternoon tea is a sweet affair with crepes served with ice cream ($9.90 – $13.90).
