Element 6 is a bit of a hidden gem near the station in West Ryde. Finding such a trendy inner city style cafe with such amazing food is difficult in this area, so I can understand why locals have been raving about it. Once inside, the warm and inviting staff will make you feel right at home. The interiors have a rustic feel with dark woods, retro furniture and an eclectic collection of artwork. We were lucky to nab the corner table near the toys so Miss 2 was in her element and I could relax for a few minutes.
The menu is served on rustic brown paper and has a heavy emphasis on breakfast. Breakfast is a huge drawcard here with signature dishes being Moroccan spiced baked eggs ($16.50); chubby bacon and sunny egg roll ($9); and ‘forget the diet’ French Toast with marscapone ($16). Another must try is the ‘green with envy’ smoothie ($7.50) which is just jam-packed with goodness (kale, celery, spinach, mint, cucumber, apple & agave).
The kids menu consists of four varieties of toasties (all $5) – egg, vegemite, tomato or ham all served with cheese. We ordered the ‘green with envy, house granola ($11) with poached fruit and kids egg toastie. All I can say is the food is sensational and you won’t be disappointed.
After breakfast, Miss 2 played some more in the toy corner and before we left the staff were even giving her a demonstration of the little toy fan at the counter. They had her giggling with delight! What a gem of a cafe with such relaxed and friendly staff. I’m still dreaming about the delicious ‘green with envy’ smoothie.
