Eugene’s
Gourmet food next to a playgroundEugene’s is named after owner and chef, Eugene Giesinger. This charming cafe with art deco pieces and stunning wooden floors is a local favourite and very welcoming of families. The space inside is not huge however there is seating on the pavement and a couple of highchairs to keep busy toddlers contained. Eugene’s is perfectly positioned for parents just near a playground and grass area on the corner of Arden and Macpherson streets.
The kids menu consists of toasted cheese sandwich or scrambled eggs on toast ($8). We ordered on of each and both were delicious. The babycinos were also a hit, served in a piccolo glass with a side of marshmallow.
Menu highlights were the buckwheat pancakes served with cinnamon ricotta ($18); the avo smash on sourdough ($16); and the salad plate which was chosen from those on display ($17). The Five Senses coffee was strong and robust and gave us an extra kick in our step to start the day.
Trendy hipsters and families alike can enjoy the relaxed ambience of Eugene’s. Remember they also serve dinner Thurs – Sat evenings and do take home meals.
