Leichhardt Espresso is a cute cafe directly opposite all the shops and facilities at Norton Plaza (which has great parent rooms with changing facilities, win!). They offer a number of options for those with intolerances and dietary requirements (eg, vegetarian, gluten free) which is handy.
I ordered a big breakfast which did not disappoint (with gluten free toast) and a couple of cups of good quality coffee with skim milk. The drinks, in particular, were beautifully presented. My 1 year old boy enjoyed the cheesy toast fingers, cut into bite-size pieces perfect for little hands.
One downside is that they don’t offer table service, but they were happy to help me when the storm really hit and I was able to order from my table as a once off (my son is getting too heavy to carry easily and not walking yet!).
Pram access is no issue at all here (no stairs), and the open layout is handy and spacious for wheeling tots around tables. Unfortunately note that as it is an outdoor setting, whilst there is a big canopy to stop the rain unfortunately if it is storming you may need to choose your seat more carefully. That said, the friendly waiters helped me promptly move my son, his pram and his load of things to ‘dry land’ when we got caught out 😛 (it’s amazing how much stuff comes with such a tiny person huh?).
The addition of an easily accessible menu online would be handy. The cafe has a facebook page, but no dedicated website you can access without a facebook account (ps, I’m a website designer and developer, and an easily accessible GUI without the need for a login are super important for small business looking to up clientele).
Note that this cafe is open 7 days a week, and is popular with locals. In conclusion, good food, good service. I would happily recommend this cafe!
