Not Just Coffee is tucked away in a little lane way and the owner, Kit, has created a calm ambience and paired this with delicious food and coffee perfectly. This two-level cafe offers a relaxing area upstairs with sofa and long table which is perfect for mothers groups, however there is no room for prams. This area would also be good for older children from about 3 years who could have a little tea party on the coffee table.
The courtyard downstairs is bathed in sunlight and there are plenty of highchairs for little ones. Not Just Coffee aims to bring friends and family together and as they rightly say ‘that is, after all, the point of life’ – well said!
Their ‘Mum and Bub’ menu is simple and well thought out. A ‘Mummycino’ (with caffeine!) and Babycino is $4. ‘One Point Five’ is a whole sandwich (full price) and half serve of their 3 Musketeers Grilled Cheese sandwich ($3.50). Finger sandwiches are $5. Upstairs you will find thank you cards from mother’s groups and baby photos on the wall. They embrace children and families here.
Kit is a biochemist and pharmacist and aims to bring her passion for food and science into all her menu items. The menu is always evolving and they aim to use the finest and freshest ingredients. We enjoyed the ‘Red Robust Bircher Muesli’ with Goji berries and fresh fruit ($12) and ‘Fruit Toast Make-Over’ of sour cherry toast with lemon ricotta and honey ($10). If you prefer to kick start your day with eggs, they serve it nearly every way including their ‘Good Ol’ Bacon and Egg wrap’ ($10). For lunch, enjoy a sandwich or salad and remember to check out their specials board.
Each day they have an inspirational quote on the blackboard. Today was ‘A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking, because her trust is not on the branch but on its own wings. Always believe in yourself’. I couldn’t agree more 🙂
