This cafe is so, so welcoming and child friendly, I am actually beyond jealous of this little community. Oscar’s Hangout is the kind of hub that I long for in my area. It’s hidden but so central and walkable for the locals. I kind of feel like I’m letting a little secret out but sharing is caring mumma and pappa’s of Mordialloc!!
The kids menu has a few options, the usual lunch menu (nuggets, pizza, fish, chips) but the kids breakfast menu had a little bit more variety than the norm. I always appreciate cereal, fruit salad and other options beside eggs. My little one has an egg allergy. I need choices so I can avoid having it at our table at all. She loves them – they don’t like her so it’s just easier to avoid sometimes.
The adults menu is a real well-rounded breakfast/lunch/brunch menu. I had the pan-fried corn fritters, smashed avocado, smoke salmon, dill cream and free-range eggs. Next time it will be caramelised Leek, semi-dried tomatoes, goats curd omelette or even the smashed avocado.
All in all it’s a great little spot for locals and even worth an out of the way trip.
