Penny Lane Cafe is set within a small group of shops, with easy parking out the front. The cafe itself has a clean and bright feeling about it with pale blue, white and pink interiors, vases of pastel flowers and even a cute blue coffee machine. This machine churns out perfect Allpress coffees all day long and has the locals queuing. The food is fresh, delicious and well priced.
When visiting with little ones, check out the grass area around the side of the cafe where you will find a large table and plenty of room to run. This area is perfect for mothers groups and you will often see prams and mums crowded around the table. They don’t offer a separate children’s menu however they will do small portions of many menu items as well as a kids eggs for breakfast . Divine looking muffins are displayed on top of the cabinet freshly out of the oven. A great option for little ones.
For breakfast, there are plenty of healthy options such as granny smith and hazelnut bircher with yoghurt and seasonal fruit ($8.50); toasted muesli with yoghurt and fruit ($9) or avocado, tomato and feta on toast ($13). If you like your eggs, a bacon and egg roll is only $6.50 or eggs on toast ($8.50).
For lunch check out the cabinet for their fresh sandwich and salad options. If you are after something more substantial, why not try a burger? Choose from portobello mushroom; turkey and zucchini; beef; or chicken schnitzel. If you have a sweet tooth, check out the display cabinet – all I can say is yum!
