High Tea at Sir Stamford Circular Quay is certainly a special event. The old school setting complete with traditional wallpaper, antique furniture, heavy curtains and soft lighting from ornate lamps makes you feel like you could be in London, Paris or Vienna. The ambience is relaxed and sophisticated with patrons talking in whispers and suited staff meeting your every need.
The Kids High Tea is $32 and comes with a homemade scone, mini desserts and a selection of finger sandwiches. They can also order a babycino and juice to accompany their meal. The high tea comes out on a tiered stand like the adult version which little ones love.
Adults can choose from 4 high tea options. If you are just after something sweet, the Devonshire High Tea ($24) comes with scones and a chocolate brownie. The Deluxe Devonshire ($36) also offers you savoury ribbon sandwiches. A popular option is the Traditional High Tea ($49), which comes with everything in the Deluxe Devonshire along with a glass of sparkling white wine. The Elegance High Tea is the most indulgent of all and comes the Deluxe Devonshire along with their signature Stamford curry puffs, savoury canapés and a flute of chilled Moet ($65).
For us, the beautiful ribbon sandwiches and fluffy scones were a highlight of the meal. The scones were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy and moist on the inside. They were served with the most divine chunky jam and cream. If you have a sweet tooth, then the Elegance High Tea will impress. The mini desserts were a work of art. Tea connoisseurs will delight in the tea selection at Sir Stamford. The Brilliant Breakfast was strong, pungent and powerful.
High Tea at the Sir Stamford Circular Quay is one of those memorable outings. The service, atmosphere and food is like nothing else found in Sydney.
