Talking Heads Cafe
Located next to a great playground and surrounded by all types of kids activities such as swimming, music, dance and art.Talking Heads Café is a bit off the beaten path in the depths of Killarney Heights but it is well worth the visit with children. It is a favourite for locals, especially mothers, who congregate here after all the various kids classes in the area. The café itself has plenty of room for prams inside as well as outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is close to the carpark so if you have a runaway toddler, inside is best.
The food is all made fresh on site and the owner, Tammi, also makes frozen meals ($18.50 – $26) which are preservative-free and healthy just like you would make at home. She uses the best ingredients and lean meats in her cooking to make sure all the family are eating well. A great idea for busy mums!
There are plenty of highchairs available and a fantastic kids menu (let the little ones choose from Dora or Spiderman!). For breakfast, they have bacon and egg on toast ($5.50), ham and cheese toastie ($4.80) or cheese and tomato ($4.50). For lunch, a simple kids sandwich is only $4 or more substantial options are fish and chips ($9.50), nuggets and chips ($9), homemade spring rolls ($6) or hot chips ($4.50). A glass of hot or cold milk is only $2.50 or juice popper $2.
The coffee is Gusto espresso which is strong and robust. The breakfast and lunch menus are extensive. All the usual brunch suspects are available ranging from $4 – $17.50. For lunch, sandwiches, salads, fish and chips, burgers and spring rolls are all reasonably priced between $4.50 to $19.
The little playground is a great place to grab a takeaway coffee and relax in the sun on the benches.
