Celebrity Italian chef Giovanni Pilu is aiming to change the perception of typical zoo food, putting his Sardinian twist on the menu at his new venture, Taronga Piazza. Gone are the pies, chips and hot dogs that is typical zoo fare and welcome fresh panini, sandwiches, salads and sweet treats. The food is prepared freshly daily at the zoo and is of high quality. Its the perfect pit stop during a family visit to the zoo or you can take advantage of 90 minutes free parking and visit for family meal.
There are plenty of options for little ones such as plain sandwiches, muffins, fruit salad or yoghurt (all around $5.50). We enjoyed a variety of panini and sandwiches with tasty and fresh ingredients. Salads are smartly presented in paper boxes or if you have sweet tooth enjoy treats from the Grumpy Baker such as cannoli, pecan tart or florentines.
Seating is available inside or outside where little ones will love running in the courtyard and exploring the colourful poles with pelicans on top or watch out for roaming bush turkeys or peacocks.
