Terrey Hills Tavern is considered one of the best family friendly pubs in Sydney. If you visit on a Sunday, it will be buzzing with families and children of all ages. Arrive early if you plan to have dinner as tables, particularly outside the kids play room, fill up fast. Children’s entertainment on a Sunday is from 4-6pm and alternates between an animal petting zoo and Kozi & Pinky (children’s entertainers). The kids play room is located off the bistro in a covered courtyard area. The toys and softplay are fairly average and I would watch toddlers as it tends to be overrun with boisterous older children.
The atmosphere at the Tavern is relaxed with indoor and outdoor seating. Families tend to congregate on the left as you enter the bistro near the play room but sitting outdoors in the Balinese garden is also very relaxing. The food is your typical pub fare. The kid’s menu is $8.50 for a meal only or $11 with a drink and ice cream. Choose from your typical kids options of nuggets, fish or calamari with chips, pizza and pasta. Also on offer are the fantastic Busy Nippers kids activity packs for only $1.
Adults can enjoy the extensive bistro menu or the trendy Cantina Mexican bar in the garden. The bistro menu is offers pizzas, shared plates, burgers, schnitzels, steaks, mains and healthy options such as salads and grilled fish. With such an extensive menu, it’s hard to know what to order. Our veal parmigiana, chicken salad and kids fish and chips were delicious and we balanced the excessive amount of chips with a side of steamed vegetables.
