If you visit The Australian on the weekend, you will likely find every table was packed with families enjoying a meal and children were happily playing in the dedicated kids play room or colouring away at their table. Families tended to congregate around the Kids Dining Room and play areas.
They offer two playrooms according to age here. Babies and toddler up to 3 years have a room with toys, soft play and a TV. You can feel comfortable they won’t be trampled by much older children in here. The soft play area for older children is not huge but will definitely allow them to let off some steam. On Sundays, they will love having their face painted for free. The kids menu is $9-$10 and offers lots of variety and healthier options. We went with the calamari and chips which was succulent and delicious ($9). Other options include grilled chicken with chips or veggies; pasta bolognaise; ham and pineapple pizza and chicken caesar salad.
During the week, grab some other mums and head here for a play between 10am-12pm and 3-5pm. You can enjoy a cappuccino and cupcake for only $5.50 and little ones a cookie and pop top for $3.50. You can even call ahead and book a table near the playroom if you have a larger group.
The main bistro menu is extensive and we found it really difficult to choose our lunch. We decided on their weekend special of Churrasco, which is “Gaucho’ style meat cooked over hot coals. The mixed plate was plenty between two people as it come with pita and salad ($30). You will find all your bistro favourites at The Australian Hotel and Brewery from salads, pasta, fish and meat to pizza. Sit back and relax with one of their handcrafted beers or a wine whilst the little ones play.
The Australian Hotel and Brewery really caters in every way to families. Their facilities and food are first class and everyone from baby to parent to grandparent will have a great time here.
