With so many cafes already on the Dee Why restaurant strip, its interesting to see how popular the newly opened The Beach Shed has become. The casual yet chic vibe and million dollar views set it apart from others. It may also be because the surf club’s boat storage shed, which is such a fixture of Dee Why beach has been transformed into something for everyone to enjoy. The cafe may be on the small side, however on a sunny day the outdoor seating is great for families and parents with prams. They also have a dedicated takeaway coffee counter so you can grab a caffeine boost before heading to the awesome playground just above.
The playground is just above the cafe. It is huge and offers something for everyone, especially toddlers. Head down a few flights of steps and you will find yourself at The Beach Shed. We managed to grab a small table inside and Miss 2 and I settled onto the cushioned bench after ordering at the counter.
The All Day Brunch Menu featured eight options including ‘crushed eggs on sourdough’ with the option of bacon ($14) or smoked salmon ($15) on the side; organic quinoa bircher muesli ($12); and a Wagyu Beef Burger with the lot ($13.50). Also check out the counter display which was packed full of gourmet items to have in and to takeaway.
