The Boathouse is picture perfect and feels like its fallen out of a home interior magazine. It oozes a relaxed beachside feel with its shabby chic rustic furniture that provides a backdrop for the bursts of colours from the fresh flowers and pyramids of fruit (all of which is for sale).
A good thing about this cafe, is that there’s a few areas where you can eat with your little ones. The outside wharf deck, inside, front entrance or my new favourite the lawn in front of Station Beach.
You order at the counter as you come in and the menus are on the blackboards on the side. The service at the counter was friendly and quick.
Prices for breakfast and lunch are on the expensive side and there is no kids menu. However they do offer toast for $7 and you could do a side or two with this. The lunch menu has a seafood focus, which is befitting the location. The cold seafood platter is a great share option for that special occasion.
Depending on the ages of your children, there’s a great choice of activities close by. From kayaking, fishing, walk up to Barrenjoey lighthouse and just happy go lucky beaching. If your kids (or even yourselves) watch Home and Away, why not take a quick tourist snap outside the token Summer Bay surf club sign on Palm Beach a short walk across the way.
