The Boatshed Cafe is located on the beautiful shore of Narrabeen lake. Parents with prams have the option of sitting outside downstairs or taking the lift at the rear up to the main café. The staff were really friendly and accommodating and the café has a fun and welcoming vibe.
A children’s menu is available for breakfast and lunch. For breakfast choose from pancakes ($10), bacon and eggs ($10) or a sausage sandwich ($6). Lunch is your typical children’s fare of fish, nuggets or cheeseburger with chips or spaghetti Bolognese, all for $10. Little ones are sure to be happy but I sometimes wish cafes could be more imaginative and healthy with their menu options for children.
The breakfast menu has good variety with toast, croissants, fruit, muesli, eggs, corn cakes and big breakfasts. They have gluten free, lactose free and vegetarian options. Lunch is served from 12pm, offering a selection of sandwiches, burgers, salads and fish. They are also licensed, so parents can enjoy a sneaky wine or bear with their meal.
The Boatshed Café was a finalist in the Northern Beaches Small Business Awards. They seem to do everything well and cater to families within a positive and friendly atmosphere. If your little ones are budding artists, they will love entering in their monthly colouring competition where the winner receives a $40 food voucher (apparently this is picked at random so as to encourage toddlers to enter too!). There are two playgrounds nearby to enjoy before or after your meal and the water is often paddling height for toddlers.
