The Grounds of Alexandria has become a Sydney institution since its opening a few years ago. This sprawling paradise is always busy so be prepared for crowds however it does have plenty on offer for families. Sit outside and enjoy the takeaway menu whilst the little ones play in the cubby or chat to the farm animals. There is room for them to move and for parents to relax.
The takeaway bar offers a fast and wholesome menu with something for everyone. If you can steer your eyes away from the delicious baked treats at the counter, more substantial and healthier options for breakfast include the Brekkie Burger; Bircher muesli; Acai bowl; and Ham and Three Cheese toastie. For lunch, little ones can choose from ham and cheese sandwich or fish and chips. Otherwise quick and healthy sandwiches, wraps and salads are the perfect go to.
As expert roasters, the coffee is spectacular, both smooth and robust. If you are looking for a sit down brunch or lunch at the cafe, the menu is innovative, healthy and delicious. The Health Plate will set you up for the day and is finished off with a kale shot. Their popular signature avocado on toast comes on their house made bread with heirloom tomato, feta, za’atar, garden mint and micro herbs. From 12pm, little ones have their own menu consisting of a cheeseburger, grilled or fried chicken, or ham and cheese toastie.
The Grounds School Holidays Program is fantastic so make sure you keep up to date here. Best of all it is free and there is no need to book, just turn up and join the fun! In addition, every Tuesday and Thursday from 11am-1pm little ones can feed the animals and hear stories from Farmer Prem about their famous resident pig, Kevin Bacon. We love how welcoming and inclusive The Grounds are of children.
