If you haven’t already been, jump in the car now and head out to Miranda to visit the Rock Café, you can read this review on the way. But word to the wise, be sure you ring before you leave as this café is ridiculously popular and you will need to reserve before you arrive.
The Rock cafe is everything you’d expect from a café that is attached to a play center. Kids everywhere laughing, squealing and generally having a blast! And if you’d prefer a bit more serenity for your meal or have an easily distracted eater, be sure to ask for a table in the front (quieter) section of the café which is separated from the play center by a glass partition. The Rock Café (and play cave) is a real credit to the owners, Afa and Eleni. A beautiful couple with 5 children who through their years of experience in childcare and parenting have refined an idea over 2 years to create this action packed dining location.
The Play Cave Café itself is an arrangement of shared long tables surrounded by 4 themed party rooms – under the sea, the farm, princess and a tweens room based around music and karaoke. The sea, farm and princess room is cleverly connected by bifold doors, which means you could easily expand your party into a bigger space if needed. Packages and deal information are available through the website.
Off the center room are the two no socks no play areas. The first a 0-3 area with a running water filled slide, ball pit and various wall mounted puzzles. Children must be supervised whilst in this area, but the pieced résistance is the enchanted forest play area at the rear of the building. A rising structure of three floors combining slides, stairs, tunnels, air pressurized cannons, and various other maze obstacles – where supervision was not a requirement. You could sit quite happily at your table and let the kids go, free to enjoy your meal and company without little prying hands.
The entry for one child can be bought as part of a meal deal and play package for $20 (first adult free, $5 for an additional). The meal options were refreshingly healthier than your standard fried goodies, we settled on chicken souvlaki, salad and chips. Side salad can be requested at no extra cost. All kids meals are $10 and come with juice or water.
