The vibe of Truman Cafe is trendy, relaxed and fun. There’s kind of an industrial feel with polished concrete floors and heavy metal chairs, and a vintage feel with the beautiful wooden Bentwood chairs. The café is quite spacious so it’s easy to manoeuvre large prams. The vintage collectables, toys and gadgets on display hark back to its day as a milk bar. The line up of toy soldier figurines on the windowsill is a cute touch and would help keep the kiddies entertained while the mummies catch up.
Truman is not the sort of place where you can let the kids run free range, but there is a box of books for the little ones to read, and it still appears a popular spot for foodie families.
As for parking, 1 hour spots are available just out front on Montague Street. Very convenient for loading and unloading prams and children. There are also 2 hour parking spots on Kerferd Road. And for those that live just a hop skip and a jump away and can enjoy a walk with the pram to get there, there is plenty of “pram parking” space.
There’s a real cruisy local vibe with plenty of repeat customers popping in and out for a coffee or a bite. I’ll definitely be returning for a repeat visit soon too and might even suggest Truman as the location for one of our weekly mother’s group coffee catch-ups!
