Located on breathtaking Watsons Bay, the Tea Gardens Café ticks all the boxes for parents and children. Sitting in the courtyard on a sunny day is superb, listening to the relaxing sound of waves lapping in the background and your children playing in the enclosed garden area with the toys provided! Once you have eaten, take them over for a play on the gorgeous little sandy beach and watch the ferries coming into Watsons Bay.
With their motto – ‘we love kids’ it’s a great take to bring the whole family for breakfast or lunch. The kid’s menu is age appropriate and reasonable. Breakfast is served until 12pm and they can choose from scrambled eggs and Soldier sticks ($5.50), bacon and egg with toast ($7.50), toasted cheese soldiers ($4) or the kiddy sandwich of toasted cheese and tomato ($5.50). For lunch, little ones will love the penne Napolitana ($6.50), spaghetti Bolognese ($7.50) and chicken or fish with chips ($9).
The main menu is extensive with an Italian focus. The food appeared simple yet fresh and well presented. We stopped in for afternoon tea, so didn’t experience the full menu. My little ones even preferred to play than eat or drink which is a good sign.
Before you leave, check out the coloured-in children’s menus which fill the walls inside the café. They really try to make the atmosphere as fun and friendly for children as possible. This combined with the idilic location, makes Watsons Bay Tea Gardens Café a great dining option for families.
